When was Countdown created?
Countdown’s story began in May 1981, when the first Countdown market opened at Northlands Mall in Papanui, Christchurch. This business was established by Rattrays Wholesale which included the Rattrays Cash and Carry warehouses and also included the SuperValue group of franchised supermarkets.
